WINONA LAKE, Ind. --On Thursday night, Asbury University and Southwestern Christian University met up in the second round of the 2022 NCCAA National Tournament. 

The Eagles started slowly in the first quarter trailing behind Southwestern Christian 19-14 in the first quarter. The Eagles continued to follow behind 34-25, going into halftime. AU would try and make a comeback but continued to be outscored and fell short 76-55. 

Top Performers:

* Autumn Herriford led the Eagles in points during the matchup with 15. Herriford also finished with five rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block on the night. 

* Trinity Shearer collected 13 points, two assists, a steal, a block, and four rebounds in the loss.

* Paige Taylor scored 10 points, while Emma Strunk recorded eight points. 

Key Stats:
* Southwestern Christian dominated the glass as they owned the rebounding margin 44-34.
* SCU finished with 30 points scored inside the paint, and AU only had 18. 
* AU shot 29 percent from the floor and committed ten turnovers in the loss. 
* SCU shot the ball well from beyond the arc, hitting eight threes, and had three players in double digits.
* The Eagles had seven points off of fast breaks, but SCU had 11 on the night.

With the loss Asbury moves to 21-6 on the year.

Asbury will look to regroup and is back in action for round three of the NCCAA National Championship Saturday, March 19, against Roberts Wesleyan College to fight for third place.
