Eagles Sweep CCS Cross Country Weekly Awards
ATLANTA, Ga. --- The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon, highlighting Asbury student-athletes Bailey Gassmann, Emma Le Duc, Dan Kersey, and Jesse Gassmann. Bailey and Dan named CCS Runner of the Week, while Emma and Jesse claiming CCS Rookie of the Week.
Junior social work and adventure education and leadership double major Bailey Gassmann continued her standout season with a runner-up finish at the Maryville Invitational. She clocked a 6K time of 23:38 to place second out of 65 runners, leading the Eagles to a second-place team finish. This marks the third straight week Gassmann has received CCS Runner of the Week.
Freshman elementary education major Emma Le Duc, a Beaver Dam, Wis., native, earned a top-10 finish at the Maryville Invitational, helping the Eagles secure a runner-up team performance. She crossed the line in 25:36 to place 10th overall in the 65-runner field.
Senior intercultural studies major Dan Kersey, continued his strong season with a third-place finish at the Maryville Invitational, with a time of 28:03. His performance led the Eagles to a runner-up team finish.
Freshman adventure education and leadership major Jesse Gassmann, delivered another impressive outing, placing fifth overall at the Maryville Invitational. He recorded an 8K time of 28:30 to help the Eagles secure a second-place team finish, giving Asbury two top-five individual performances in the 70-runner field.
