Asbury Athletics Names Dr. Lewis Willian as Faculty Athletics Representative
WILMORE, Ky. --- On Thursday, Asbury Athletics announced the appointment of Dr. Lewis Willian as TeamAU's new Faculty Athletics Representative, following Dr. Emily Walsh, who faithfully served in the role for the past five years.
After more than 30 years of serving in education as a teacher, principal, Kentucky Department of Education Education Recovery Leader, and central office administrator, Dr. Lewis Willian brings a wealth of leadership and experience to his new role as TeamAU Faculty Athletics Representative.
"We are pleased to announce the appointment of our Dr. Willian as our new Faculty Athletics Representative, said Director of Athletics Ben Andrews. "This role is essential in strengthening the connection between academics and athletics while supporting the success and well-being of our student-athletes. We are confident that his leadership and strong reputation amongst his colleagues will be an asset for our department and the university as a whole."
Since joining Asbury, Willian has invested in preparing future educational leaders by recruiting for and teaching in the Asbury Graduate School of Education, where he teaches school leadership and research courses. His passion for student development and commitment to academic excellence make him a natural advocate for AU student-athletes.
"I'm excited to support the academic development of all of our student athletes in any way that I can." said Dr. Willian.
As Faculty Athletics Representative, Willian will serve as a bridge between academics and athletics, supporting the holistic development of student-athletes while helping ensure the University's commitment to excellence in the classroom, in competition, and in Christ-centered character.
Dr. Willian and his wife Carol have been married for 32 years and have two children and three grandchildren.
