
WILMORE, Ky. — The Asbury men's and women's track & field teams turned in a strong showing on Senior Day at the Asbury Invitational, with both squads earning third-place finishes while delivering multiple event wins, school records, and NCCAA National Championship qualifying marks.
Caleb Payne delivered a strong sprint performance in the 100 meters, clocking an 11.01 to secure an NCCAA National Championship qualifying mark.
Bailey Gassmann turned in a standout distance day, earning an NCCAA qualifier in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:10.9 while also capturing first-place finishes in both the 1,500 and 5,000-meter runs.
In the field events, Anna Hellums set a new school record in the javelin with a throw of 24.42 meters, moving into the No. 2 spot in the CCS rankings.
Cameron McElroy continued his dominant season in the javelin, winning the event with a school-record throw of 50.14 meters, which ranks No. 1 in the CCS.
Carson Meloon added to the Eagles' success with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters (6'2") to earn an NCCAA National qualifying mark and move into No. 2 in the CCS.
Matthew Wilson also claimed a victory on the day, taking first place in the pole vault to round out a strong showing for Asbury in the field events.
