Bluegrass Orthopaedics Student-Athletes of the Week
WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury men's track and field freshman pre-nursing major,
Manny Dut, and women's track and field sophomore psychology major,
Maggie Higdon, have been named the Asbury Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Bluegrass Orthopaedics Sports Medicine.
Manny Dut | Men's Track and Field
Dut, a Danville, Ky., native, earned National Champion in the 400m race on Friday in Columbia, S.C., at the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Outdoor Track nd Field National Championships.
Dut became the first Asbury student-athlete to ever win a NCCAA National Championship in Outdoor Track and Field, following
Bailey Gassmann winning the Indoor Mile National Championship earlier this season. He was ranked only ninth going into competition, but ran a new personal best and school record of 48.56 seconds to win by a couple of tenths of a second.
Maggie Higdon | Women's Track and Field
Higdon, a Bloomfield, Ky., native, set four school records in the NCCAA National Championship. She ran 15.94 in the 100m hurdles, a record of 1:09.6 while finishing 8th in the 400m hurdles, and a leg on both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams that set new school marks.
