DANVILLE, Ky.--- On Friday and Saturday, the men's and women's swim teams began their 2025 calendar schedule at the Colonel Classic hosted by Centre College. Both teams placed fifth overall at the classic during the two day event.

The teams delivered strong performances across multiple events. Highlights include Ethan Bonow's 2nd-place finish in the Men's 100 Freestyle (46.60) and several top-10 relay finishes, such as the Men's A 200 Medley Relay placing 5th and the Women's A 200 Freestyle Relay (Claire Hentrup, Leah Margraf, Chloe Anderson, Ruthie Ward) securing 6th place.

Individual standouts include Ruthie Ward's 6th place in the Women's 50 Freestyle (25.39) and Ethan Bonow's 8th-place finishes in both the Men's 500 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.


The teams will be back in action next week taking on Lindsey Wilson College on Saturday at 12 PM in Columbia, Ky.

"I love the Colonel Classic. It's always fun to see what happens when our swimmers are coming off Christmas break and two rounds of Christmas training. It was great to be racing again after having a long layoff and, even though the results may not always show it, our team raced hard, they competed well, and, when they were asked to step up, they answered the bell. It was a great way to start 2025 and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes."

We had tough training prior to this meet, but we were able to push through and work together as a team.
