WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury Athletics has announced this month's #TeamAU Alumni Feature, presented by KEMI (Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance), highlights a former Asbury student-athlete, Katy Zweifel class of 2016. Katy competed for the Asbury Women's Cross Country team from 2013-2016 and had an amazing career for the Eagles.
"Katy is one of the hardest working athletes I've ever had at Asbury" said Katy's Asbury head coach Randy Crist. "During her career here I believe she totaled more training mileage than any of her teammates, including the men's team! She is still the only Asbury runner to qualify for the National Championship meet for all four years she competed. She is a two-time Conference Runner of the Year. She also holds Asbury's school record in cross country, and the 5k and 10k records on the track."

What was your major and what sport did you play?
Major: Elementary Education Sport: Cross Country
How did God use Asbury to impact your life?
My professors in the School of Education greatly impacted my life. Their passion for education helped me embrace my calling to be an educator. I have used the skills they taught me to impact so many students in my own classrooms.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
My favorite Bible verse is Habakkuk 3:19. It reminds me that nothing I do or accomplish is from my own skills or strength, it is the Lord working through me and strengthening me.
"GOD, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer's; He makes me tread on my high places..." - Habakkuk 3:19
What is your current occupation?
After five years of teaching and the recent birth of my daughter, I am currently a stay-at-home mom.
What is your favorite Asbury athletics memory?
My favorite memory is when I ran my fastest 5k time, 18:07, during my senior season. It was a very exciting day because I was injured for the beginning of the season, and that was very disappointing as a senior. I remember praying about it and hearing the Lord say that if I worked hard through it and trusted Him, He would take care of me. My dad, also an Asbury cross country alumni, coached me through my injury. I worked very hard in physical therapy and cross training and ran this personal best n my first race bck from being injured. It was a display of the Lord's power in my life, and the Lord used it to teach me about faith and trust during trials.
