WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's lacrosse team bounced back with a 20-10 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan at home on Wednesday afternoon in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles improve to 2-3 on the year with the win and also earn their first win in program history over Tennessee Wesleyan.
Asbury controlled the pace of play and dominated both ends of the field as they outshout the Bulldogs 55-18.
Highlights
*After trading goals through the first 10 minutes of action, Asbury trailed 4-3. From that point on, the Eagles would dominate the rest of the game, as
Ashley Byrd would find the back of the net off an assist from
Abigail Peklo to tie up the game in route to five unanswered goals.
*The Eagles scored six of the final seven goals of the half to take a commanding 14-6 lead into halftime.
*AU increased the lead out to double digits in the second half thanks to a goal scored by
Aubrey Curell two minutes into the half for a 16-6 advantage.
*Curell led the Eagles with six goals and gave AU its largest lead of the day after her final goal of the contest which put the Eagles in front 19-7.

Mia Doron and Curell led the Eagles' with seven draw control wins apiece. Curell posted six goals, an assist, and three ground balls with a team-best 11 shots on goal.
*Doron scored five goals and provided an assist, along with a team-high five ground balls in the victory.

Hannah Biegert scored a season-high three goals on six shot attempts, while
Ashley Byrd and
Grace Tatro each added two goals apiece. Tatro led the Eagles with three caused turnovers additionally.
*Asbury forced 21 turnovers and held TWU to just 18 shots throughout the game.
