Herriford Reaches 1,000 Career Points, AU Sinks 21 Threes in 105-76 Win

WILMORE, Ky. – Behind a plethora of 21 threes, the Asbury University women's basketball team rolled to a 105-76 victory at home against Alice Lloyd on Saturday afternoon in River States Conference play.

Autumn Herriford needed just two points to reach 1,000 for her career entering Saturday's contest. The junior knocked down a bucket early on in the second quarter to surpass the 1,000 career-point mark. Herriford joins Kelsey Johnson with 1,000 career points. Johnson achieved 1K points earlier in the season in December. 

Saturday's win also marks the third time this season that AU has scored at least 100 points in a single-game.

Inside the Matchup
Asbury improves to 15-5 (4-3, RSC) on the year, while ALC drops to 9-9.
AU moves back into second place in the RSC West Division and improves to 7-1 in home games at the Luce Center.

Key Stats
*Asbury shot 21-39 from three-point territory and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor on the day.
*Zaria Napier and Kelsey Johnson each recorded 18 points to lead the way offensively. Johnson brought in seven rebounds, while Napier collected six boards and six assists.
*Amie Conley posted 17 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.
*Jaclynn Ruble and Sarah King each connected on four three-point field goals and finished with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
*Herriford totaled eight points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

Highlights
*The Eagles used a huge second quarter of 32 points with 8-11 shooting from three-point range as AU pushed ahead 48-39 at the break.
*Asbury continued to stay hot from deep, shooting another impressive 8-11 from behind the arc in the third quarter.
*Johnson and Napier hit back-to-back threes early in the third to extend the lead out to 66-49.
*Faith Osborne and Ruble sank a total of three threes in the final minute of the quarter to give the Eagles a commanding 86-59 advantage.
*Asbury out-scored ALC 38-20 in the third quarter, and 57-37 for the second half.
