WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team asserted their will over Kentucky Christian University Knights on their way to an easy 15-1 victory on Tuesday evening at Cecil Zweifel Field.
In the first inning, the Eagles got their offense started when Matthew Baker doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run to give them the Early advantage.
AU made good work of its chances offensively, as they scored fours runs in the fourth and fifth inning to pull ahead comfortably.
Later on in the contest, Asbury tallied four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to walks by CJ Compton and Joey Stenger, by Riley Baumbick, and a double by Philip Jewell.
Josh Owsley got the start and was on the mound for Eagles. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while also striking out three.
The Eagles saw the ball well throughout the night at the plate, racking up 11 hits in the game.
Baker, Colton Back, and Trevor Campbell each racked up multiple hits for Eagles.
Campbell, Back, and Baker each managed two hits to lead Eagles.
Chase Martin and Ryan Block also made appearances on the mound in the final two innings of play. The duo struck out three.
AU is in play this afternoon at Kentucky State. First pitch is slated for 2 PM.
