Asbury Drops Saturday Doubleheader at No. 13 Belhaven

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

PEARL, Miss. — Asbury (14-25, 7-10 CCS) dropped a Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) doubleheader on the road at  No. 13 nationally ranked Belhaven (27-11, 12-5 CCS) 11-1 and 10-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Game One | BELHAVEN 11, ASBURY 1
Asbury struck first but couldn't keep pace as Belhaven pulled away for an 11–1 win over the Eagles.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first. Andrew Billington led off with a double and later scored on an RBI single from Aaron Beaman, giving Asbury an early 1-0 advantage.

Belhaven answered immediately in the bottom half and then broke the game open with a four-run second inning to take control.

Billington paced the Asbury offense with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring the team's lone run and adding a stolen base. Beaman drove in the Eagles' only RBI, while Avery Hare chipped in a hit as Asbury finished with four total on the day.

On the mound, Ryan Yates (4-4) took the loss after allowing five runs over three innings. The Eagles used four pitchers in the contest, with Brandon McKindley providing steadiness out of the bullpen, allowing just one unearned run across two innings of work.

Belhaven capitalized on timely hitting throughout, collecting 14 hits and scoring in five different innings. A big second inning and a late three-run eighth helped the Blazers create separation.

Game Two | BELHAVEN 10, ASBURY 2

AU was locked in a tight battle through the first four innings. After falling behind 1-0 in the third, Asbury answered in the fourth when Josh McNulty delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring Aaron Beaman to even the game at 1-1.

The game turned in the fifth inning, as Belhaven capitalized on walks and hit-by-pitches to push across four runs and take control. The Blazers added two more in the sixth and broke things open in the seventh with a three-run home run.

Asbury was limited to just three hits on the afternoon. McNulty drove in the Eagles' lone RBI, while Avery Hare recorded a double and Baylor Hair added a pinch-hit single. Andrew Billington reached base twice via walks, and Beaman swiped a base and scored a run.

On the mound, Cayden Devine took the loss after allowing just three runs over four innings of work. The Eagles bullpen was used throughout the middle innings as five pitchers came on in relief for Asbury.
