Haupt, Blancet, Morrison Lift Eagles Over UC-Clermont

WILMORE, Ky. -- The Eagles improved their winning streak to two games after a 12-2 victory Cecil Zweifel Field Thursday night over the UC-Clermont Cougars.

Freshmen pitcher Tyler Morrison (LaGrange, Ky) was outstanding in his collegiate debut.

The 6'4 left hander completed five innings on the mound while totaling four strikeouts, and not allowing a single earned run.

In relief, Chase Thomas (Louisville, Ky) and Austin Shaw (Paducah, Ky) sealed the win for the Eagles.

Thomas struck out one batter in his appearance while allowing two walks during the sixth and seventh inning.

During the top of the eighth, the Eagles turned it over to Shaw who recorded three outs while striking out one Clermont batter.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by sophomore first baseman Paul Haupt (Louisville, Ky) and senior Josh Blancet (Nicholasville, Ky) who combined to total seven RBI during the contest.

Haupt who recorded three hits, and three RBIs, has been averaging one RBI per game at the start of this young season. Blancet recorded four RBIs on two hits and currently has three hits in as many games.

Freshman catcher Matthew Baker (LaGrange, KY) also contributed to the Eagle's strong offensive performance with three hits, and one RBI of his own.
