COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Asbury University swimming teams opened up the 2019-20 season on Friday at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky. The men's team defeated LWC by an overall score of 106-96, but the women's team fell 112-89.
Both teams saw success in the pool as they combined for nine total events won on the evening.
"I was very excited to see our men and women race this evening, said Head Coach Alex Keyser. We have put in 6 solid weeks of training in so far and it feel great to finally see how the hard work is paying off.
I was really thrilled for Hannah Springer to return to the pool after she had season ending surgery on a torn hip labrum last December. She excelled tonight and won two individual events (200 IM and 100 Breaststroke) and qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 100 Breaststroke. Our men did a really solid job in the pool. We have a solid group of young guys who race every day in practice. I was excited to see them be able to race some other competition and they really stepped up to the challenge tonight."
