Joe Bar enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Asbury men's golf team.
Barr led the Eagles to a historic season in 2017-18, guiding the squad to its first ever NAIA Championship appearance and the team improved on their score each of their three rounds. AU earned the national tourney bid by finishing as the runner-up in the RSC Championship, bumping up three spots in the team standings during the final round of competition.
It was the second consecutive season in which the Eagles placed second at the conference tournament.
Barr, a 2013 graduate from UK with a degree in corporate communications, had a decorated playing career of his own. As a four-year letterman at Kentucky, Barr played in 20 rounds of golf during his senior season with the Wildcats and garnered honors as an AJGA All-American. He was also named to the All-SEC Academic team four times.
Other accolades for Barr include a qualification for the U.S. Pub Links Championship in 2012, the 2011 Lexington City Championship, 2008 Junior State March Play Championship, three all-state selections at Woodford County High school as well as being named a two-time Kentucky Golf Association PGA Player of the year in both 2006 and 2007.
