In Horton's third season leading Asbury volleyball, she was named the 2024 Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Volleyball Coach of the year. She led the Eagles to a 15-1 conference record and a CCS Regular Season Championship in their first year in the league. 

2024 Season Numbers 

  • Doubled the Asbury volleyball win amount the past two consecutive seasons
  • 21-8 overall record, 15-1 in the CCS
  • Started 10-0 in CCS Play
  • Knocked off No. 23 Centre College on their home court
  • Led AU to a nine-game winning streak that included five straight sweeps
  • Asbury has 1,300 kills on the year at a .176 hitting percentage while holding opponents to 981 kills at a .124 hitting percentage. 

Finishing with a 21-8 record overall in 2024, Horton and the Eagles produced several conference recognitions throughout the year including the CCS Setter of the Year (Lucy Kate Gray), CCS Defensive Player of the Year (Riley McChord), and CCS Freshman of the Year (Isabelle VandeSchraaf). The CCS also named Sophie Glushchak and Emma Grace Gray to all conference teams.

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) named VandeSchraaf and Lucy Kate Gray as first team all-region and McChord as second team. Isabelle VandeSchraaf collected national attention, being named a NCCAA first team All-American and the Region Six NCAA AVCA Freshman of the year.

In 2023, Coach Horton and AU volleyball doubled their win total, capturing the most wins since 2019. Horton led the Eagles to a key win over Huntingdon College on Sept. 8, winning 3-2. Asbury volleyball was highlighted by the NCCAA as senior Brynna Reynolds received the NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honor. Coach Horton helped lead the team as Lucy Kate Gray finished 9th in the NCCAA with 736 assists, averaging 8.46 per set. Under Head Coach Tiffany Horton, AU picked up four sweeps and two reverse sweeps.


In her first season as head coach of the program in 2022, Horton and the Eagles collected five wins. Coach Horton captured her first win on Sept. 1st in a 3-0 win over Kentucky State. Coach Horton and Asbury volleyball claimed four NCCAA Scholar-Athletes and freshmen Lucy Kate Gray and Riley McChord each finished top ten in NCCAA in assists and digs.

Tiffany Horton was named head volleyball coach at Asbury University on January 13, 2022. She brings an extensive volleyball background as an accomplished player both at the NCAA Division I and professional levels. Horton has also been a successful coach in the Central Kentucky area, most recently serving at Transylvania University as a volunteer assistant coach for the past two seasons.

Horton coached at Lexington Christian Academy and Lafayette High School prior to joining the Transy staff. She has also been a very active club coach for Alpha Performance Volleyball (2017-2021) and currently for Lexington United Volleyball.

“I am very honored to lead the volleyball program at Asbury University,” Horton said. “This is a unique opportunity to coach the sport I love, while also sharing my faith in Christ to encourage and challenge our student-athletes. I want our team to always play with great effort and I’m excited to build a program that glorifies God.”

Horton was a four-year starter at the University of Arizona from 2007-2010, earning All-Pac-10 honors as a senior in 2010 and Pac-10 All-Freshman honors in 2007. She helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. The talented outside hitter was also named a National Player of the Week by the AVCA and received All-Region honors during the 2008 season. Horton completed her career at Arizona being named the Pac-10 Player of the Week on four different occasions, including twice as a senior. Following her final season, Horton was selected as an alternate for the USA National Women’s Volleyball Team in Colorado Springs. In 2020, she was named one of the top 10 University of Arizona volleyball players of the decade (2010-2019) by All Sports Tucson. She still ranks among the Wildcats’ all-time career and single season leaders in several categories, including career kills (1,585 - 5th), career average kills per game (3.82 - 5th), kills in a match (32 – T10th), career digs (1,174 – 8th) and digs in a season (414 – 8th).

Horton earned a bachelor’s degree from Arizona in 2011, majoring in Family Studies & Human Development. Following her time at U of A, Horton played two years professionally in Puerto Rico and Switzerland. She also served as an intern with Athletes in Action in 2010.

Horton is originally from San Bernardino, Calif. She met her husband Donald, a former football student-athlete, while they were attending the University of Arizona. They have three sons and live in Lexington.
