WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University men's soccer (0-2-0 CCS) team put together another strong defensive effort on Friday night at Gray Outdoor Venue, but an early goal proved to be the difference as the Eagles fell 1-0 to Mount St. Joseph (2-0-0 HCAC)
Mount St. Joseph found the breakthrough just 1:11 into the match when JT Roden scored what would stand as the lone goal of the evening. Despite conceding early, Asbury settled into the contest and created several quality opportunities while limiting the Lions to nine total shots.
The Eagles generated seven shots and placed five on target, forcing Mount St. Joseph goalkeeper Carson Sabers to make five saves to preserve the shutout.

Jacob Graston, and
Colton Kenney each produced dangerous chances for the Eagles throughout the match.
Asbury's best opportunities came in the second half as the Eagles pushed for an equalizer. A shot from
Colton Kenney in the 60th minute was turned away, while
Nathan Haglund tested the Lions' goalkeeper twice in the final 25 minutes. The Eagles also earned two second-half corner kicks as they increased the pressure late in the contest.
In goal,
Tolan Beaty recorded five saves and kept Asbury within striking distance throughout the evening. Four of his saves came on shots placed on frame by the Lions as he turned aside multiple scoring opportunities after the opening-minute goal.
The match featured a physical battle between the two sides, with each team committing 14 fouls. Asbury played the final portion of the match down a player after a red card in the 76th minute but continued to press forward in search of an equalizer.
