HANOVER, Ind. - Asbury men's soccer (1-3-2, 0-0 CCS) battled back from a deficit twice on Saturday afternoon, using two goals from
Tyson Absher to earn a 2-2 draw with Hanover (1-2-3, 0-0 HCAC) at the Hanover Soccer Complex.
Hanover struck first in the 12th minute when Cole Hubert found the net to give the Panthers an early 1-0 advantage. Asbury responded just over three minutes later as
Tyson Absher delivered the equalizer in the 15th minute, leveling the match at one.
The Absher goal marked Asbury's only shot of the opening 45 minutes, while Hanover finished the half with four attempts. The Eagles' defense kept the match even over the remainder of the period to send the teams into halftime tied, 1-1.
Hanover applied pressure throughout the second half, but goalkeeper
Tolan Beaty came through with saves in the 67th and 84th minutes to keep AU level. The Panthers eventually broke through in the 79th minute when Andrew Pavlisko scored to put Hanover ahead, 2-1.
With less than six minutes remaining,
Tyson Absher found the back of the net for the second time, tying the match at 2-2 in the 85th minute. The sophomore accounted for both of Asbury's shots on goal and both Eagle goals, finishing the match with two goals on two shots.
Hanover continued to attack over the final minutes, but the AU defense held the Panthers scoreless to preserve the 2-2 draw.
Tolan Beaty played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles and collected two saves.
Asbury was outshot 19-3 overall and 5-2 in shots on goal, but made both of its attempts on frame count.
Jacob Graston recorded AU's other shot, while the Eagles generated all four of their corner kicks in the second half.
