Eagles Split Day With Wilmington; McKindley Earns Second Win

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury (14-22, 7-8 CCS) split a Saturday non-conference doubleheader with Wilmington College (3-26, 0-10 OAC), winning 6-3 before falling 11-7, as Brandon McKindley earned his second collegiate win on the mound.

Game One | ASBURY 6, WILMINGTON 3
The Eagles capitalized on early defensive miscues, as CJ Hussey and Avery Hare each drove in two runs in the opening frame to give Asbury a 4-1 lead. Wilmington trimmed the deficit to one in the fifth, but Cam Weaver answered with an RBI single later in the inning, and Aaron Beaman added insurance with an RBI double in the sixth.

On the mound, Brandon McKindley earned the win in relief, tossing three hitless innings while allowing no runs and striking out one to shut the door. Ryan Yates got the start, allowing three runs on eight hits over four innings.

Asbury finished with seven hits on the day, highlighted by RBI's from Weaver, Beaman, Hussey, and Hare, while the Eagles' pitching staff held Wilmington scoreless over the final three innings to secure the victory.

Game Two | WILMINGTON 11, ASBURY 7
The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning behind two-run home runs from Aaron Beaman and Cam Weaver. Asbury added another run in the fourth on a Beaman sacrifice fly and carried a 5-2 lead into the middle innings.

Wilmington chipped away, tying the game in the sixth before Asbury briefly regained the lead in the seventh on an RBI from Weaver. However, the turning point came in the eighth inning, when Wilmington capitalized on defensive errors to plate four runs and take control. The visitors added two more insurance runs in the ninth to extend the lead.

Beaman led the Eagles offensively, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Weaver added two hits and three RBIs of his own. CJ Hussey and Avery Hare also contributed multi-hit performances as Asbury totaled 12 hits.

On the mound, Cayden Devine got the start, allowing three runs (two earned) over 4.2 innings, while the bullpen was not able to contain Wilmington's late push.
