WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury (14-23, 7-8 CCS) battled throughout but couldn't overcome a big fourth inning from Mount St. Joseph (14-18, 8-9 HCAC), falling 14-8 at Cecil Zweifel Field.
The Lions struck early with two unearned runs in the first, but Asbury answered in the second when Hayden Fisher lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home CJ Hussey and cut the deficit to 2-1.
The game turned in the fourth inning, as Mount St. Joseph erupted for eight runs on six hits, capitalizing on key hits and timely baserunning to stretch the lead to 10-1.
Despite the setback, the Eagles showed resilience at the plate. Asbury responded with a four-run bottom half of the fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Cam Weaver and an RBI double from Edison Burke to make it 10-5.
Mount St. Joseph added two more in the sixth, but the Eagles continued to chip away. Burke delivered again with an RBI single in the sixth, and Asbury took advantage of defensive miscues in the seventh to close the gap to 12-7.
The Lions added insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, including a solo home run from Andrew Clements, while Asbury pushed across one final run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single from Avery Hare to bring the game to its final score of 14-8.
Burke led the Eagles offensively, going 3-for-6 with two RBI's and a stolen base. Fisher drove in three runs, while Aaron Beaman added two hits. Weaver also contributed a pair of RBI's in the effort.
On the mound, Adam Campbell got the start, allowing two runs (none earned) over two innings.
Asbury tallied 12 hits on the night and continued to battle offensively, but defensive miscues and the Lions' big inning proved to be the difference.

Asbury concludes their 2026 regular season in Jackson, Miss., taking on Belhaven Friday, April 24th at 2 PM CST / 3 PM EST.
