SEWANEE, Tenn. --- The Asbury men's tennis team (2-3, 0-0 CCS) traveled to Sewanee, Tenn., to take on Sewane (4-1) and Wallace State-Hanceville (8-0) in a doubleheader match, dropping both 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Match One | SEWANEE 5, ASBURY 0
Sewanee secured the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The Eagles battled throughout the lineup but were unable to shift momentum in singles play as the Tigers captured the necessary straight-set victories to clinch the team result.
Asbury competed in several tightly contested sets, including a strong effort at No. 2 singles as Ben Moore that pushed into a second-set battle, but Sewanee ultimately closed out the match to complete the sweep.
Match Two | WALLACE STATE-HANCEVILLE 5, ASBURY 0
The Eagles picked up a key victory at No. 1 doubles as Ben Moore and Franco Patino earned a 7–6, 7–5 win over Alexander Grube and Nikith Surapaneni. Wallace State answered with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point and take the early lead.
In singles play, Moore competed at No. 1 before falling 6–0, 7–5.
Ignacio Ardiles at No. 3 and Alejo Britos at No. 5 were engaged in competitive matches that were ultimately cut short due to game being called, limiting Asbury's ability to shift momentum late in the contest.
Asbury is in line to travel to Danville, Ky., on Wednesday, March 4th, to take on Centre College at 5 PM.
