FRANKFORT, Ky. --- The Asbury softball team (4-0, 0-0 CCS) Abigail Moffat and Daegan Flamm powered the offense in the midweek sweep over Kentucky State (0-2, 0-0 SIAC), 8-0 and 11-3.
Game One | ASBURY 8, KENTUCKY STATE 0
The Eagles jumped ahead quickly in the first inning of the opener and never looked back. With two aboard, Daegan Flamm drove a two-run double to left field to score Emily Zink and Abigail Moffat for a 2-0 lead. Asbury doubled the margin in the third when Moira Tinsley roped a run-scoring double and later stole home as part of an aggressive inning on the bases that pushed the advantage to 4-0.
AU broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning. Moffat forced in a run when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Kaylee Korros followed by reaching on a fielder's choice that brought home another run.
The Eagles finished with seven hits, four stolen bases and six walks while stranding eight runners but consistently applying pressure. Moffat scored three times, went 2-for-2, stole two bases and was hit by a pitch, while Flamm drove in three runs on two hits, including her first-inning double and a sacrifice fly. Tinsley added a double, an RBI and a steal in the win.
Josie Potter set the tone with five shutout innings as the Eagles backed her with early run support and steady pressure in an 8-0 decision. Potter scattered two hits, walked three and struck out two over the complete game, facing traffic in only a handful of spots while the Asbury defense played error-free softball behind her.
Game Two | ASBURY 11, KENTUCKY STATE 3
Piling up 15 hits and again building an early cushion in an 11-3 victory. After a scoreless first inning, Asbury broke through with three runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run double from outfielder Samantha Bottom to a 3-0 lead. The Eagles matched that output in the third, pushing three more across as Elyanna Rogers delivered a two-run double and AU moved in front 6-0.
Kentucky State broke up the shutout in the fourth on a solo home run by Aaliyah Long, trimming the deficit to 6-1, but AU continued to answer. The Eagles added a single run in the fifth and then put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth inning. In the sixth, Tori Giurgevich punched an RBI single and Rogers added another run-scoring hit as part of a frame that saw Asbury extend the margin to 11-3.
Rogers turned in a standout performance at the plate in the nightcap, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, four runs scored, a double and two stolen bases. Emma Popplewell collected three hits, scored twice and stole a base, while Giurgevich finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Asbury again showed balance throughout the lineup, drawing seven walks, swiping four bases and notching four doubles and a home run.
In the circle, Sidney Hansen earned the Game 2 win with six solid innings of work. Hansen allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one, navigating Kentucky State's late push in the sixth to complete the outing. Asbury's defense committed just one error in the finale, and Kentucky State left five on base for the second straight game.

AU will travel to Centre College on Saturday February 28 and March 1 in Danville, Ky., first game is at 11 am.
