STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

DANVILLE, Ky. --- The Asbury University softball team (5-1, 0-0 CCS) split its Saturday slate at Centre, falling 5–4 to Olivet (1-1) in the opener before bouncing back with a thrilling 7–6 extra-inning win over Centre (2-1, 0-0 SAA) in the afternoon contest.

Game One | OLIVET 5, ASBURY 4

Asbury jumped out early, plating two runs in the first inning and adding single runs in the second and fourth to build a 4–0 advantage.

Emily Zink led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Moira Tinsley added a pair of hits and drove in a run. The Eagles showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks in the contest.

Olivet answered in the third inning with four runs and added what proved to be the decisive run in the fourth. Asbury threatened late but could not push across the equalizer.

Sidney Hansen got the start in the circle, allowing four runs (two earned) over 2.1 innings. Danielle Spiegel pitched 3.2 solid innings in relief, surrendering just one run while striking out four.

Game Two | ASBURY 7, CENTRE 6

After trading runs early, Asbury broke through late. In the seventh, the Eagles tied the game before erupting for three runs in the ninth to take a 7–4 lead. Centre answered with two runs in the bottom half, but A. Thompson closed the door to secure her first save of the season.

Tinsley powered the offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, double, four RBIs, and a sacrifice fly. Abigail Moffat scored three runs and tripled, while Zink added three hits. Josie Potter helped her own cause with two hits and two RBIs.
