West Leads Eagles Past Huntingdon, 80-63; Into CCS Semifinals

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky. ---  The Asbury women's basketball team (14-12, 11-5 CCS) was led by junior exercise science major Ma'Kiya West to lead them past Huntingdon College (12-14, 9-7 CCS), 80-63, Tuesday night in Wilmore, Ky., to advance to the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Semifinals on Friday night.

The Eagles set the tone early, opening the game on a 9–2 run and closing the first quarter with a 24–14 advantage. Asbury knocked down four three-pointers in the opening frame and controlled the glass to establish momentum.

Huntingdon trimmed the deficit in the second quarter, outscoring Asbury 15–13, but the Eagles maintained a 37–29 lead at the break. Asbury responded after halftime with a strong third quarter, extending the lead behind consistent scoring and defensive stops to take a 56–44 edge into the final period.

Asbury pulled away in the fourth quarter, shooting 50 percent from the field and knocking down timely shots from beyond the arc. The Eagles outscored the Hawks 24–19 in the final 10 minutes to seal the 17-point victory.

West led Asbury with 18 points and 11 rebounds, recording a double-double. Emily Sizemore supplied 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go with eight rebounds and three assists, as the Eagles' attack spread across the roster. While Morgan Flannery chipped in 11 points. Bre Jones provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, and Juleigh Anne Tucker was perfect from three-point range, finishing with nine points on 3-for-3 shooting.

As a team, Asbury shot 41.4 percent from the floor, the Eagles finished 29-of-70 from the field, including 10-of-29 from 3-point range, and 12-of-17 at the line. The Eagles owned a 44-36 edge on the glass, including 15 offensive rebounds, and their bench outscored Huntingdon's reserves 23-10.
