Asbury Women Take Second, AU Men Sixth at SCAC Championships; Bonow Earns Swimmer of the Meet


STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
Garland, Tx.--- The Asbury men's and women's swim teams wrapped up their 2025-26 seasons on Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in Texas. The women finished overall second place as the men took sixth place at the championships.

Day 3 Highlights:
Asbury delivered a standout Day Three at the SCAC Championships, highlighted by school records, podium finishes, and a historic swim from Ethan Bonow.

The evening opened with a strong showing in the 200 freestyle relays. The women's relay of Claire Hentrup, Mallory Taylor, Leah Margraf, and Ruthie Ward placed second while setting a new school record. The men followed with another runner-up finish, as Ethan Bonow, Braden Vincent, Caden Eckenroth, and Owen Seymour also broke the school record.

Bonow capped off an exceptional night by winning the men's 100 butterfly in 47.36, setting new Asbury, SCAC meet, and SCAC open records while earning an NCAA B cut. Braden Vincent added a fifth-place finish in the event, while Ward led the women with a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly.

The women's breaststroke group continued to score consistently, led by Addie Huebert's third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Emme Johnson added another podium finish for the Eagles with third place in the 100 backstroke, while Owen Seymour followed with a runner-up finish in the men's 100 backstroke.

Day 4 Highlights:
Asbury capped off the SCAC Championships with another impressive day of competition, highlighted by record-breaking sprints, distance depth, and strong relay finishes.

The women opened the session in the 1,650 freestyle, with Rachel Lynn placing fourth and Eva King close behind in fifth. Emme Johnson followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200 backstroke, while Ryan Wood added points for the men in the same event.

Sprint events proved pivotal for the Eagles. Mallory Taylor led the women in the 100 freestyle with a fourth-place finish, while Claire Hentrup, Ruthie Ward, Chloe Anderson, and Leah Margraf all contributed scoring swims. On the men's side, Bonow claimed another victory, winning the 100 freestyle in 44.38 to set a new Asbury record and earn his second NCAA B cut of the meet. Owen Seymour and Braden Vincent followed with top-five finishes.

Addie Huebert continued her strong meet with a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, supported by El Jankoviak and Hannah Maria Jones in the top five. Morgan Stephenson and Joy Killingsworth added points in the 200 butterfly.

Relay action closed the championships as the women's A 400 freestyle relay placed second, while the men's A relay finished third and set another school record. The Eagles concluded the meet with momentum, depth, and multiple program-best performances.
