Asbury Places Sixth at Colonel Classic; Bonow Posts Lifetime Bests

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
DANVILLE, Ky.--- The Asbury men's and women's swimming teams returned to action at the Colonel Classic hosted by Centre College this weekend. The teams posted multiple top ten finishes and strong relay performances throughout the event translating into a sixth place finish overall for both teams.

Sophomore Ethan Bonow led the way for the Eagles with an impressive weekend in the pool, earning second place in the Men's 100 Freestyle (46.28) and a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:22.52), while also placing 10th in the 500 Freestyle (4:57.70). The men's relays continued to shine, as the A 200 Freestyle Relay and A 400 Freestyle Relay teams both finished fifth.

On the women's side, the A 200 Freestyle Relay and A 800 Freestyle Relay squads each secured 10th-place finishes, rounding out a strong all-around performance for Asbury.

STORY - QUOTE

"I love the Colonel Classic. This year was really a special one and it was really cool to see our swimmers embrace the toughness of this meet. We're coming off our second week of Christmas training, we're coming off of Christmas Break and this is just a tough, gut it out kind of meet. Our team responded really well and people leaned into the discomfort well. Loved to see where we are coming off of break and I'm excited to see where this season goes!"
Graham Duncan | Head Swimming Coach

"While it's bittersweet that this Colonel Classic was my last one I'll compete in, it was so awesome to watch the team perform well and encourage one another following a tough week of training."

Maris Wainright | Port Orange, Fl. | Senior | Accounting and MBA Sport Management Major
