MARYVILLE, Tn. --- Asbury softball (8-6, 1-3 CCS) split the afternoon to Maryville College (7-13, 1-1 CCS) on Friday, dropping game one 7-0 and winning game two 11-4.
The Scots shutout the Eagles in game one, Asbury recording one hit off the bat of
Natalie Ison.
Kaylee Strunk was perfect in relief throwing 1.2 innings on the mound and not allowing a single run.
Asbury responded in game two with 11 hits as a team, two each from
Abigail Moffat,
Daegan Flamm, and
Sidney Hansen. Hansen also recorded the win for Asbury throwing four innings surrendering just one ER. Freshman
Azlynn Day blasted her first homerun of her career, plating two RBI and scoring three times. Junior
Natalie Ison also went deep for AU, her third of the season.
Game One | MARYVILLE 7, ASBURY 0
Maryville held Asbury to one hit during the first game, coming off the bat of
Natalie Ison in the seventh inning.
Abigail Moffat reached base on a walk to lead off the game for the Eagles.
The Scots scored three in the first, one in the third, and three in the fifth, plating their seven runs and claiming the 7-0 game one victory.
Senior Kayle Strunk took over pitching for AU in the fifth, allowing just two hits, no earned runs, and one strikeout.
Game Two | ASBURY 11, MARYVILLE 4
The Eagle offense came alive in game two, getting started off a solo shot from
Natalie Ison to make things 1-0 early.
Sidney Hansen and

Emily Zink to take a 3-0 advantage.
The Scots responded with one run in the third, before a four-run fifth inning for Asbury. RBI's from
Natalie Ison,
Moira Tinsley,
Emily Zink, and
Sidney Hansen plated the runs for Asbury in the frame, taking a 8-1 lead.
A Scots three-run double in the fifth made things 8-4 headed to the sixth inning.
A
Daegan Flamm sacrifice fly and a
Azlynn Day two-run homerun in the sixth finished the scoring for Asbury, bringing the Eagles to a 11-4 nod.
Josie Deatherage closed things out for Asbury in the seventh, completing the 11-4 victory. Deatherage pitched the last three innings allowing no runs and striking out three.
Sidney Hansen earned her third win of the season, pitching four innings, and allowing just one earned run.
Asbury moves to 8-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference earning their first CCS win in their first annual season. Maryville goes to 7-13 overall and 1-1 in the CCS.
"It feels good to get our first conference win today. The first game wasn't our best, but the team recovered well and found their bats for game two. I'm hoping we can carry the momentum forward into our conference games tomorrow."

Asbury will face-off in another CCS doubleheader tomorrow against Huntingdon College starting at 12 PM in Wilmore, Ky.
