Eagles 21 Hits and Tinsley Two Homeruns Powers AU to Sweep over Wilmington

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- Freshman exercise science major Moira Tinsley powered her first two collegiate homeruns on Tuesday afternoon, collecting seven total RBI's on the day helping lead Asbury (7-3, 0-0 CCS) to a doubleheader sweep over Wilmington College (3-2, 0-0 OAC) 10-5 and 10-6.

Senior biology major Kaylee Strunk took the mound for AU in game one, allowing four earned runs in her third complete game win of the season. Natalie Ison, Emily Zink, and Moira Tinsley each homered for AU powering the Eagles to a 10-5 win.

The freshman Tinsley followed up her game one homerun with a four hit game two, including five RBI's, and another homerun propelling the Asbury offense to 13 hits and 10 runs, completing the sweep over the Quakers 10-6

Game One | ASBURY 10, WILMINGTON 5

Natalie Ison powered the Asbury offense in the first inning, sending a solo shot over the wall for her second homerun of the season to get AU out to an early 1-0 lead. Ison. followed things up in the third inning, doubling to center field scoring Abigail Moffat making things 2-0 in favor of the Eagles.

Moira Tinsley added damage in the third for AU, towering her first collegiate homerun and plating Ison to extend Asbury's lead to 4-0.

Wilmington responded with a Sam Schwab double scoring Judea Wilson in the fourth cutting the Eagle lead to 4-1.

A Danielle Oldfield sacrifice fly and Natalie Ison single in the fourth scored two more expanding AU's lead back out, 6-1.

An Emily Zink two-run blast and Abigail Moffat double in the bottom of the fifth added on for Asbury to a 9-2 advantage. Zink followed up her homerun with a single in the sixth to plate the 10th run for Asbury.

Wilmington responded in the seventh with two runs, but was not enough as Kaylee Strunk finished the complete game and gained her third win of the season guiding the Eagles to a 10-5 win. Strunk stands at 3-0 on the season with a 2.59 ERA, leading Asbury pitchers in both categories

Game Two | ASBURY 10, WILMINGTON 6

Moira Tinsley followed up her game one homerun in the first inning with a RBI double to score Abigail Moffat and score in the first inning for the second consecutive game.

Wilmington responded in the second with an infield single to plate one and knot things at one apiece. Judea Wilsom followed the infield single up with a two out, two RBI single to score two more and extend the Quakers lead to 3-1.

The Eagles would end up putting a five spot in the bottom half of the second off of a bases loaded walk to Abigail Moffat, Natalie Ison sacrifice fly, and a Moira Tinsley three-run HR, making things 6-3.

The Quakers put up a run in the third and AU three in the fourth as the Eagles took a 9-4 advantage. The Asbury runs came off Moira Tinsley and Daegan Flamm singles and a wild pitch plating Flamm.

Wilmington's Hailey Johnson's two-run HR in the fifth ended the scoring for both squads as Sidney Hansen closed the last five innings pitching for AU and helping the Eagles to the sweep over Wilmington winning game two, 10-6.

Hansen allowed just three ER in five IP, Deatherage earned the win starting the game allowing three ER in two IP.

Asbury imrpoves to 7-3 on the year, their best 10-game start since the 2011 season.
