RACINE, Wi.--- Asbury men's and women's swim traveled to the Liberal Arts Conference Championships in Racine, Wi., to compete for the last time in their 2024-2025 season. Through day two and three, freshman business administration major Ethan Bonow set two new individual school-records, while Claire Hentrup, Leah Margraf, Chloe Anderson, and Ruthie Ward set a new school-record in the 200 freestyle relay. Bonow, Zach Montiel, Braden Vincent, and Owen Seymour also set a new school-record in the men's 200 on Thursday.
Day 2 Highlights:
The biggest highlight of the night for the women was breaking a 14-year old relay record in the 200 Freestyle relay (Claire Hentrup, Leah Margraf, Chloe Anderson, Ruthie Ward). Additionally, AU had just about every member of the women's team qualify for finals, or go a personal or season best time in prelims. Every single swimmer in the women's 200 IM went a personal best time and scored, every single swimmer in the 500 freestyle went a season best time and scored points, and all but two swimmers qualified for finals in the 50 freestyle and went either season or lifetime best times and scored points.
On the men's side, two highlights stood out on the day. The first was breaking a 14-year old relay record, the oldest record for the men's team in the 200 Freestyle relay (Ethan Bonow, Zach Montiel, Braden Vincent, Owen Seymour). The second was Ethan Bonow breaking his own 50 freestyle record for the fourth time this season, achieving an NCAA B time standard (Asbury Swimming's first B cut since becoming a full member of Division III). Asbury also had Henry Coleman set two personal best times in the 500 freestyle (once in prelims and again in finals), Zach Montiel set a personal best mark in the 200 IM in finals, Avery Annas and Ryan Wood both set personal best marks in the 200 IM in prelims, and Owen Seymour set a personal best mark in the 50 freestyle in prelims.
Day 3 Highlights:
On the women's side, AU started off strong tonight with Morgan Stephenson finishing conference runner-up with a personal best time in the 400 IM. The Eagles had a really strong showing in the next several events with Ruthie Ward and Alanna May finishing second and fourth in the 100 butterfly, with Ward posting a personal best time in prelims. Things kept rolling in the 200 freestyle with Hannah Maria Jones and Sarah Finlayson finishing third and fifth. Rachel Lynn also finished in the points with a season best time. Chloe Anderson set a new personal best in the 100 breaststroke and both Emme Johnson and Jocelyn Schulte made the A final in the 100 backstroke, with Johnson defending her conference title in the event. Leah Margraf and Maris Wainright also finished scoring points in the event. The evening finished off with a strong third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.
On the men's side, Henry Coleman had a great swim to finish fourth in the 400 IM with a personal best time. Ethan Bonow continued his conference title run with a second individual title in the 100 butterfly. Bonow posted a personal best, school and meet record, and NCAA B time standard in prelims with a 48.13 (Bonow won the event with a 48.26 in finals). Also scoring in that event was Braden Vincent with a new personal best time. Avery Annas kept things rolling with a new personal best in the 100 breaststroke. Owen Seymour finished off the individual events with a fifth place finish in the 100 backstroke. The men finished the session off with a strong third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.
