Women's Soccer Faces Narrow Defeat Against Spalding at Home, 1-0

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky--- In a closely contested regular season match, Asbury University's women's soccer team faced a narrow defeat, falling 1-0 to Spalding at the Asbury Soccer Field in Wilmore on Saturday.

The only goal of the match came just before halftime, with Spalding's Faith Rutherford finding the net at the 43:39 minute mark, assisted by Madison Dziedzic. Despite a strong defensive effort from Asbury, they were unable to equalize in the second half. The Golden Eagles managed to hold their lead till the final whistle, marking a challenging day for the home team.

Asbury's goalkeeper, Maliya Crump, along with Olivia Bosch, who also made several key saves, were notable for their performances. Bosch's six saves were critical in keeping the game within reach while Crump made three crucial stops.

With this result, Asbury's record now stands at 3-1-1 for the season. The Eagles will look to bounce back in their next outing as they travel to Hanover, Indiana to face Hanover College. The team remains optimistic as they inch closer to conference play.
