Maris' freshman season ended with 3 top 16 conference finishes, she had lifetime best performances in 2 of her 3 conference events. After off season shoulder surgery, she continued to help with the team, providing valuable support to both her teammates and the coaching staff. Despite not being able to practice and compete, Maris barely missed a practice and was always willing to do whatever was necessary to provide a great experience for her teammates. Her leadership was on display and led to her being nominated by her teammates to serve as a captain for her junior season.
