LOUISVILLE, Ky.--- Both the men and the women's cross country teams qualified for the NCCAA nationals with their performance today at the Live in Louisville Race. Qualifying for the NCCAA nationals is based on a combined time of your top five runners, which are the scorers, in any given meet during the season.
The men's team finished in ninth plays out of 21 colleges and universities with a top five combined time of two hours 23 minutes 39 seconds, nearly 3 minutes under the qualifying standard.
Wes Preston was the number one runner, finishing in 30th place out of 189 runners. The other scores for the team today were
Dan Kersey,
Josh Rittgers,
Luke Holton, and
Tyler Chong.
The women's team finished 13th out of 24 schools. Their combined top five time was one hour 48 minutes 40 seconds which was about a minute and a half better than the national qualifying standard.
Ava Miller lead the way followed in the scoring positions by
Sarah Yost,
Emma Groff,
Lily Anne Rinehart, and
Adyson Mattingly.
The teams will return to Wilmore on Saturday, October 12th, for the annual Justin Spoon Fiercely Faithful Meet held at the Asbury Cross Country Trails. The race will being at approximately 10:30 AM for the women, followed by the men's team.
