WILMORE, Ky. --- God's goodness has been experienced in many ways at Asbury University, and on February 8, 2023, Asbury students along with faculty, staff, administrators, local community members, and visitors from out-of-town gathered together in Hughes Auditorium to worship God in unity.

After a regularly scheduled Asbury chapel service "concluded" on a Wednesday morning around 11 am, some students felt led to stay in Hughes for a continued time of worship and prayer. Asbury students, faculty, staff and community members around Wilmore, Ky., began to return to Hughes Auditorium after information spread of the morning service continuing into Wednesday afternoon.

Students from nearly 300 colleges and universities traveled to the campus of Asbury to join in unified worship.

"Words fail any effort to communicate the abundance of experiences and stories that will leave us forever changed", said Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown. "What we have experienced since that Wednesday morning has been a current of immeasurable goodness flooding our community and quickly moving into other regions of the world."

"The effort by committed men and women on our campus to redirect energy, forsake other obligations, work tirelessly around the clock, and provide single-minded labor to accommodate our students and incoming visitors has been the high point in my career," said Dr. Kevin Brown. "In fact, it may be the most extraordinary act of collective Godliness and hospitable goodwill I have ever witnessed in my life. I am forever grateful. I am forever changed."

Asbury student-athletes continued their responsibilities of classes and athletics events as they experienced the way God was revealing Himself in a powerful way on their home campus. A familiar Asbury opponent's college basketball program brought their entire team to Asbury to attend service, so the AU counterpart program welcomed them and joined in attending the service.

"My experience at the Asbury Outpouring was formational in every way. My heart was opened to surrender in all I am so that God has every ounce of who I am to exalt Him.  My eyes have witnessed the bonds of anxiety and suicidal ideation shattered, the people of God redeemed and empowered, and physical miracles occurring over and over. Simply, I am in awe of who my God is. My faith and understanding of the radical Holy Spirit will never be the same."

"Coming to Asbury I knew about God but I had never been strong in my faith. God has worked in me during my three years here and I am forever grateful for finding Him while at Asbury. I started my walk earlier in the year and it has been so rewarding ever since. The revival helped amplify my want for Christ as I saw Him working in real-time. The revival was so great and came in a time of need for our students and the world. God is real and alive!"

"Through the spiritual outpouring I was overwhelmed and in awe of how great our God is. I loved being completely surrounded by others worshiping and longing to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. It was truly a glimpse of heaven!"

"I transferred from Asbury after my first year and at my previous school I knew I was missing something but couldn't figure out what it was. It was community. And more specifically a community in Christ to challenge and further my spiritual walk with God. When I transferred back I felt immediate fulfillment. The students, the staff, the coaches, Bible studies, classes, and athletics all have allowed me to grow exponentially in my faith. I didn't realize what I had until I didn't have it anymore at my other colleges. And then to be able to experience the revival firsthand was that much more incredible. God had brought me back to Asbury University for a reason and I now know why. I can't thank Coach Cervantes enough for giving me the opportunity to not only excel and max out my potential on the baseball field, but also to excel and max out my potential as a man, a student, and a believer of Christ!"

"What began on February 8th has marked me, this campus, and my generation. Both pivotal and poetic, this outpouring of God's Spirit has changed the game entirely. I did not leave the premises of Hughes Auditorium for five days before returning to my dorm room. I skipped class for the remainder of that week because I just did not want to leave. I just keep thinking; who are we to witness Him firsthand? To be on Holy ground, this "ground zero" of what God is doing and about to do. This is  just the beginning because this generation is waking up."

"God opened my eyes to my brokenness and need, emptied me of the bad and the hurt, and filled every place with his goodness and gentle Spirit."

"From experiencing the revival, God's peace showed up in beautiful, unexpected ways. Personally, I was able to learn to trust prayer and the guidance of the Lord. Through athletics I have been able to see a new type of connection on and off the field. Learning that I am glorifying the Lord on and off the field. I truly believe that God is continuing to change lives and dwell in people's hearts."

"Seeing all different generations praying over each other and come together to support Gen Z was just incredible… truly an image of what Heaven will look like. I was so blessed to be part of it and I am changed forever because of that."

"During the outpouring I had people pray healing over me and my ankle where I tore my Achilles. The next day I was able to walk around without pain and without limping. I usually received treatment before practice but I didn't that day and from then on out. All the tightness and soreness that was constantly in my ankle, even after my surgery and recovery, had gone away. I was able to play my last home game without pain and I'm so grateful God allowed me to be able to have this experience!"

"I think the thing that sticks out to me the most from the two plus weeks of the events at Asbury University was the fact that it was a genuine encounter with the Jesus. The REAL Jesus! I had been praying that people would come to meet Him in an authentic way since the summer mission season, then we had this amazing experience. So often we have "experiences", then it's over, but with an encounter, lives are changed."

"Even if you did not feel God's presence, you saw it moving in the people around you. To say the least, it was a bad day to be the devil."
