DANVILLE, Ky.---
Carolina Trumpower led the day for Asbury in the Centre Invitational on Saturday in Danville, qualifying for the NCCAA Nationals with her performance in the 1500 meter run.
For the second straight weekend the Eagles competed through extremely high winds. The discus and hammer throw events were forced to be canceled and the pole vault moved to an off-campus indoor facility due to safety concerns.
Trumpower, the NCCAA Cross-Country 2x All-American ran a 5:13.46 time in the 1500 meter to secure a spot in the NCCAA National Championship.
Freshman
Mary Hostetter continued her impressive season, recording the second fastest 400 meter time in Asbury school history at 1:04.07. Hostetter is also a strong piece on the Asbury women's soccer team.
NCCAA Cross-Country All-American
Wes Preston set a new personal best in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:16.88. Freshman
Samuel Omer added two feet to his best ever long jump with a leap of 18'1".
Over 30 schools participated in the Centre Invite, nearly a third of them failing to have any competitors finish in a scoring position. Asbury women's track and field finished 19th of 20 teams that scored, and the Asbury men placed 16th of 21 scoring teams.

"We are still a year away from the "official" launch of Track & Field at Asbury, so this season we are competing with a very small group of athletes compared to other schools. We don't have the numbers to even enter about half of the events at most of our track meets. We are gaining valuable experience though, and know we will be more competitive as a team in the next couple of years."

Asbury will return to Danville, Ky., for their next meet on April 14 at Centre College.
