STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
DANVILLE, Ky.--- Asbury track and field impressed once again on Saturday in Danville, Ky., setting multiple school records, taking an individual first place win, and seeing more runners qualify for NCCAA Nationals.

The men's team finished at a very strong sixth of 16 scoring teams, their highest result of the season. The women finished 13th of 15 scoring teams.

Asbury shined in the Men's 4 x 800 relay to qualify for NCCAA Nationals, setting a school record time of 8:18.49, previously set in 2004. The team consisted of Samuel Webb, Wes Preston, Luke Holton, and Davis Brown finishing in second place in the race.

In the Men's 800 it was freshman Davis Brown (1:55.44) and sophomore Luke Wheatley (1:56.30) finishing 1-2, both coming in under the school record of 1:56.59 which had stood since 2004. Brown had already qualified for Nationals in this event and now Wheatley joins him.
Wes Preston scared the Men's 5000 Meter school record with a personal best of 15:45.05, less than three seconds away from Neil Butler's record set in 1987. Preston now has the second fastest time in Asbury school history. Preston had already qualified for Nationals in the event, but is now joined by Will Durrance who was just a step behind him in 15:46.80.
For the women, Mary Hostetter trimmed 1/100th of a second off of her school record with a 13.20 to earn a spot in the NCCAA National Championship competition. Hostetter also broke her own school record in the 200 with a 27.01 to also qualify for Nationals in that event.
