NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.--- Sophomore
Luke Wheatley became the third Asbury men's track and field member to qualify for NCCAA Nationals with his 400 Meter Dash school record time (50.81). The Asbury men's team took the meet win on Wednesday evening in Nicholasville, Ky., while the women's team finished in second place.
Wheatley's 50.81 time in the 400 Meter Dash gave him first place in the event to contribute to Asbury's first meet win of the season.
Freshman
Davis Brown followed up his Nationals qualifying weekend with a win for Asbury in the 800 (2:00.44). Brown's freshman teammate Samuel Webb came in right behind for second place in the event at 2:03.59.
The other previously Nationals qualifed Eagle
Wes Preston contributed on the day with a win in the 1500 (4:18.18). Freshman media communications major
Cameron Tapp came in second place in the event behind Preston with a time of 4:26.94.
Will Durrance competed in his first track and field meet of the spring, kicking the season off with a win in the 5K run (16:49.68). Durrance, the 2022 NCCAA Cross-Country All-American edged his teammate Preston by less than a second, Preston coming in second at 16:50.22.
On the women's side for Asbury it was Macie Hill winning the Discus Throw in 95'2" and the Shot Put in 31' 3.25". HIll's numbers were both the second best distances in Asbury school history.
Freshman
Mary Hostetter erased her previously set school records with new 100 (13.21) and 200 (27.36) school record times. Hostetter finished second in both the events to Georgetown's Libby Miller.
Sophomore biochemistry major
Katherine Stanley had a big performance in the 1500 for the win and a new PR (5:21.99).
Asbury's men won the meet over Georgetown College, 60-55, with Alice Lloyd finishing in third place. Georgetown women's track and field took the women's meet, defeating AU by a margin of 72.57, with Alice Lloyd finishing in third.
