Track and Field Starts Strong off the Block at Cedarville Invite, Breaking Four School Records

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
CEDARVILLE, Oh.--- Asbury's relaunched track and field team opened their 2023 season in Cedarville, Oh., in a meet consisting of 15 institutions as well as multiple track clubs and unattached athletes. Ava Miller, Luke Wheatley, Davis Brown, and Sam Webb helped set the tone for the future of track and field at AU by setting school records for Asbury's first meet of 2023.  

The team competed in the Mile Run, the 3000 Meter Run, the 800 Meter Run, the Men's 400 Meter Run, and the Women's Triple Jump.

In the Women's Mile Run, Freshman Ava Miller (5:53.53) broke Carolina Trumpower's indoor school record.

Luke Wheatley set a new school record in the Men's Mile Run, clocking in at 4:38.92. Wheatley was followed by teammate Wesley Preston (4:44.31).

It was Freshman Davis Brown to set a new indoor school record  in the Men's 800 Meter Run (2:00.08), taking third place in the event of all the heats.

In the Men's 400 Meter Run, freshman Sam Webb set a new school record (54.76).

The team even got to compete in the Women's Triple Jump, with Elise Terpstra taking third overall (9.21m).
