ANDERSON, In.--- Freshman
Macie Pack tied a career-high with 14 kills alongside a career-high five blocks to lead Asbury volleyball (8-10) to a key road win over Anderson on Saturday afternoon, 3-1.
Pack's performance was her second match this week with 14 kills, including the win on Tuesday night over Ohio Christian. She now has six double-digit kill matches and is third on the team with 144 overall.
Emma Grace Gray (13) and
Megan Walden (10) also had double-digit kills, Gray's 11th and Walden's ninth time this season.
McKenna Rumage had two service aces on the day as well.
Lucy Kate Gray tied her third-highest assist amount this season with 42 on the day. She now has six matches with 40 or more assists.
Riley McChord,
Emma Grace Gray, and
Lauran Barber all had double-digit digs. McChord led the way with 14.
Asbury hit their highest percentage this season at .282. They commited only 14 errors, their third-lowest match this season in errors.
Set-by-Set Recap
Set One
Asbury started the match strong with an 8-3 lead, but Anderson roared back to gain a 19-15 advantage. Back-to-back kills from
Megan Walden and
McKenna Rumage brought Asbury to 19-21, but Anderson's offense continued to score and secured the 25-21 win.
Set Two
In the second set Asbury's offense began to take off,
Macie Pack having three kills in their first ten points. The Eagles went up 18-14 and then closed the set out with a 25-19 win, tying things at 1-1. Pack had seven kills in the set.
Set Three
Anderson took an early 14-9 lead in the third set off efficient offense and some Asbury errors. Asbury responded with one of their most clutch runs this season, scoring 16 of the next 20 points to win the set, 25-18.
Set Four
Megan Walden led off the fourth set with a kill, continuing the Asbury third set run into an early 16-9 lead in the fourth set. The Eagles went on to power through the set with explosive offense, winning 25-13 to finish the match, 3-1.
Asbury moves to 8-10 on the season with the key road victory, just two games behind .500.
