COLUMBIA, Ky.--- Junior
Emma Grace Gray earned her 12th double-double match this season with 12 kills and 10 digs, but Asbury (9-14) fell on Thursday in Columbia, Ky., to Lindsey Wilson College (14-13) in three sets.
Gray now has 15 matches this season with double-digit kills and 16 with double-digit digs.
Lucy Kate Gray played in her first match in over a week, dishing 16 assists to lead AU.
Freshman
McKenna Rumage had three blocks for Asbury while
Sidney Haysley was second on the team in kills with eight.
Linsey Wilson hit an efficient .368 percentage compared to the Eagles at .059. AU had 30 kills as a team compared to the Blue Raiders' 40.
Set-by-Set Recap
Set One
Lindsey Wilson scored the first seven points of the match, using two kills and an ace to take the lead. AU went on a three-point swing including an
Emma Grace Gray kill to get the match to 5-9, but LWC continued to succeed offensively, winning the set 25-13.
Set Two
Asbury's offense came ready to play in the second set, using an
Ariana Bluestein ace and
Emma Grace Gray kill to take an early 10-6 advantage. The Eagles scored four straight halfway through the set, taking their lead to 16-13.
Lindsey Wilson answered with a 12-3 run to come all the way back and win the set, 25-19.
Set Three
After going down 0-2 on the road, AU continued to battle, going ahead 11-9 over LWC in the third set.
Sidney Haysley had four kills out of Asbury's first 11 points in the set.
LWC went on a 8-1 run to take a 17-12 lead.
Emma Grace Gray took three straight kills to bring the Eagles to down 15-17. The Blue Raiders then scored eight of the next 11 points to take the set 25-18, winning the match.
Asbury moves to 9-14 after a match where they led in the latter stages of two sets of the match against a talented Mid-South Conference team in Lindsey Wilson.
