Kopczynski Logs Nine Saves in Loss Against Marian

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Asbury University women's lacrosse team fell 22-7 to Marian University on Sunday afternoon.

Asbury falls to 1-10 on the season with the loss.

The Eagles battled, trying to slow down the fast-paced attack, Marian.

MU jumped out to a 2-0 advantage, but Grace Tatro brought the Eagles back within one after scoring an unassisted goal eleven minutes into the contest.

MU would score minutes right after Tatro; however, Mary Tidei would close the gap by one, 4-3.

After that goal, though, AU would give up five straight unanswered goals over the last few minutes of the first quarter and into the beginning of the second to take a 9-3 lead.

Sophia Carmody would score the second goal for the Eagles unassisted. Marian scored another three goals until Carlee Logan would score on a man-up opportunity. MU would score one more time before halftime, with a 13-5 lead.

Carmody tabbed her second goal of the afternoon in the third quarter. Tatro had the final goal assisted by Katherine Ivey for AU in the last eight minutes of the third quarter. MU would score eight more times unanswered.

Elsie Kopczynski collected nine saves throughout the game.

Asbury posted 14 shots, with 11 shots landing on goal.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday afternoon at 6 PM against Centre College.
