MIDWAY, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team had its six-game winning streak end on Tuesday evening at Midway University in River States Conference play.
The Eagles fell 3-1 in game one and dropped game two in a tight contest, 4-3.
AU moves to 4-2 in league play and is 12-16 overall on the year heading into this weekend. AU will travel to Rio Grande on Friday and WVU Tech on Saturday.
Game one
*Midway struck first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second before adding two more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead.
*The Eagles had a tough day at the plate in game one, as they were held to only three hits.
*Asbury had an opportunity to get on the board in the fifth inning after
Chandler Kelly reached on a fielder's choice and
Bree Sanders' single through the hole at shortstop, but the Eagles stranded two baserunners and came away empty-handed.
*AU got on the board after a sacrifice fly from
Taylor Enlow to deep center scored
Sydney Howard to reduce the lead down to 3-1.
*However, Asbury would go down in order in the seventh as they were unable to make a comeback.

Jenni Beasley and
Sydney Howard also reached on singles along with Sanders.

Ally Moore pitched all six innings and struck out two in the loss.
Game two
*Madison Moss scored off an error in the top of the first to put the Eagles ahead 1-0 in the first frame.
*Midway would tie up the contest in the bottom of the second off an RBI double, but AU regrouped and took the lead back in the top of the third as
Ashleigh Bobo crossed the plate off a sac fly from Beasley.
*MU tied up the game for the second time in the following half-inning on an RBI single to left-center field.
*
Harley Wagoner's RBI double down the right field line sent the Eagles back on top with a 3-2 advantage as
Bree Sanders scored.
*Leading 3-2, AU shutout Midway in the next two frames, but MU would break through in the sixth inning.
*A solo homer over the center field fence and an RBI double to deep-right field gave Midway a 4-3 edge late in the game.
*Asbury collected five hits in the loss as
Madison Moss led the way with a 2-3 effort at the plate, which marked her seventh multi-hit game of the season.

Abby Ponder tossed 5 and a third innings of work and struck out 1.
McKenzie Meyer pitched the remainder of the contest in relief.
