WEST POINT, Ga. – The Asbury University women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 21 goals on Saturday as the Eagles rolled past Point University in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
Today's win marks the first win over Point in program history as the Eagles improve to 4-5 on the year and pick up their third conference win as they move to 3-2 in league play.
Aubrey Curell led AU with a team-best seven goals on 11 shots, including an assist and nine draw control wins. The senior is now at 99 career goals and is one score away from becoming the second player in program history to achieve 100 career goals.
Asbury got off to an excellent start in the first half scoring the first eight goals of the game in the first 14 minutes of action.
AU was in complete control of the game at the break after a dominating effort had them ahead comfortably 16-5.
The Eagles would tally five more goals in the second half to reach a new season-high in goals scored in a single game.
Ashley Byrd recorded four goals along with a career-high nine ground balls.
Mia Doron notched four goals with three ground balls and two draw controls.
Hannah Biegert finished with three goals, three ground balls, and an assist.
For the game, AU placed 32 shots on goal and fired off 35 shots throughout the game.
Asbury is back in action on Thursday at home against Madonna in non-conference play at 2 PM.
