FLORENCE, Ky. – Behind a dominant pitching effort and timely hitting, the Asbury University baseball team swept its Friday doubleheader against Grace College in Florence, Ky. AU won game one 5-0 and took game two comfortably by a score of 12-3.
The Eagles won three of the four games in the series and improve to 9-2 overall on the year.
Game one

Will McDonald pitched another gem with a complete game shutout, striking out 11 and allowing only three hits.
*The Eagles' bats got going in the third inning, thanks to a two-RBI double from
Paul Haupt, which scored
Riley Baumbick and
Trevor Campbell.
*In the fifth, AU extended its lead out to 3-0 following an RBI single from
Colton Back.
*Asbury would score another run in the sixth, and Haupt would tab another RBI with a single to left to score the fifth run of the game.
*The Eagles finished with eight hits as Haupt led the way with two doubles and a 3-4 effort at the plate and a team-high 3 RBI.

Riley Baumbick collected his first multi-hit game of the season and scored two runs.
Game two
*Asbury dominated game two, finishing with 12 runs on 17 hits.
*The Eagles jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning to set the tone for the game.
*Grace would cut into the lead with two runs in the third, but the Eagles would extend the lead in the fourth off a run scored by
Parker Burge.
*Haupt smacked another RBI double in the fifth, and
Walker Paris drew a bases loaded walk to push the lead out to 6-2.
*Leading 6-2 in the seventh, the Eagles put the game out of reach with six runs on five hits.
*Haupt had another monster game, as he recorded three hits and four RBI. The Louisville, Ky. native added two doubles additionally, giving him four for the day on Friday.

Colton Back, who totaled eight hits in the series, finished 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
*Matt Johnson,
Trevor Campbell, and
CJ Compton each finished with two hits apiece.

Alec Lush got the start on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings and striking out three.

Jacob Cervantes,
Austin Jennings, and
Bryce Barber would pitch the remainder of the game in relief, striking out seven combined and allowing 0 earned runs.
