WILMORE, Ky. - The Asbury University volleyball team fell to Kentucky Christian University on Tuesday evening at the Luce Center. The Eagles lost the match 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-18, 14-16) as the season record drops to 3-12.
Asbury returns to action Wednesday, October 13, in a 7pm match at Campbellsville.
Set 1: The Eagles trailed KCU early in set one 17-9, but came back after winning seven out of the eight points to close the gap 19-17. KCU maintained the lead down the stretch to win set one after a KCU kill.
Set 2: The Eagles led 14-12, but KCU made a comeback and took the lead. The Eagles rallied and fought their way back to win set two. During this set, KCU committed eight errors compared to Asbury's four.
Set 3: Asbury trailed the entire set and commit several errors, making it difficult to close the gap in the KCU's 10-point win.
Set 4: The Eagles rebounded in set four recording eight kills and forcing 10 KCU errors.
Set 5: AU played a solid fifth set and held a hitting percentage of .154, giving the Eagles the lead for most of the set. However, the Knights would make a comeback to win the last and final set of the match after AU made two errors and KCU recorded two kills.
Highlights:
• The Eagles ended the night with 39 kills, while the Knights had 52.
• Bethany Fye recorded eight AU's 12 blocks for the match.
• Sydney Fleshood led the team in digs and aces while also contributing three assists.
• AU committed only 28 errors compared to KCU 33.

It was a hard-fought match. We seemed a bit off tonight. Our setters and hitters didn't seem to be on the same page. We still had quite a few opportunities to finish, even with being off. I've told this team multiple times that they're good, they just need to believe it.
