Eagles Win Seventh in a Row, Defeat Oakland City 91-83

WILMORE, Ky. – A balanced scoring attacked pushed the Asbury University men's basketball team past Oakland City 91-83 on Tuesday evening at the Luce Center.

Asbury improves to 11-2 on the year and has won seven consecutive games, the longest winning streak AU has held in a decade.

The Eagles have also won five straight games at the Luce after Tuesday's nights victory.
 
Key Stats
*Four Eagles scored in double figures as Jamiel Goliday and Nick Fort each scored 21 points to pace the offense.
*Goliday shot 5-8 from three and was 8-13 from the field, while Fort finished 10-16 with six rebounds.
*Eric Powell and Leander Ridgeway also reached double figures scoring with 19 and 14 points respectively. Ridgeway led Asbury with a team-high nine rebounds.
*The Eagles finished the game 13-17 from the free throw line and also hit 10 three-point field goals.
*AU scored 14 points off turnovers and shot 49 percent from the floor throughout the game.

Highlights
*Asbury got off to a great start after building a 19-8 lead in the first six minutes following back-to-back threes from Powell and Ridgeway.
*AU remained out in the front for the remainder of the half and led 38-27 after a jumper from John Shoulders with two minutes left.
*Oakland City ended the first half on a 7-0 run to cut Eagles' lead down to 38-34.
*The Eagles' offense continued to score with ease in the second half, but OCU would not go away, keeping the lead within one or two possessions for most of the half.
*Leading 75-71 with five minutes to play, AU slowly began to pull away as Nick Fort connected on a three from the top of the key to stall OCU's rally.
*A 14-5 run over the next three minutes along with five consecutive points from Jamiel Goliday gave Asbury its largest lead of the night at 89-75 with two minutes left.
