RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Asbury University men's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles fell at Rio Grande 82-49.
Asbury drops to 11-3 on the year and also collects its first road loss of the year (4-1). URG improves to 10-6 on the year and evens the season series at 1-1 after the Eagles won the first meeting 76-65 at the Luce Center on January 2.
The 49 points scored were a season-low for Asbury, the fewest points scored in a game since the 2010-11 season.
Highlights
*Asbury started off slow and trailed by 12 at halftime at 37-25 as the Eagles were just 18 percent from the three-point line in the first 20 minutes of action.
*The Eagles were outscored 45-24 in the second half, allowing Rio Grande to pull away.
*URG came out strong in the first half shooting 47 percent from the field and shot 100 percent from the line on free throw attempts.
* During the second half, the Eagles' struggles continued with just one-three point field goal and below 40 percent shooting from the field.
*The Eagles average over 10 three-point field goals per game, but finished just 3-22 from three-point territory on Saturday.
*Rio led 51-40 with 11:35 to play and would end the contest on a 31-9 run.

Leander Ridgeway led the Eagles in points and rebounds with 21 and eight respectively.

Nick Fort recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and dished out an assist.

Eric Powell also scored in double figures scoring 10 points along with four rebounds.
*URG scored 24 points off of turnovers, while the Eagles committed 16 turnovers.
*AU shot 35 percent from the field and scored 34 points inside the paint.
*URG scored 44 points from inside the paint and was 86 percent from the free-throw line.
*The Red Storm also won the rebounding margin 39-33.
