Women's Lacrosse Dominates Home Opener with 17-0 Shutout Win

WILMORE, KY. – The Asbury University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 17-0 victory at home over non-conference opponent Thomas More on Saturday.

Asbury improves to 2-0 on the year while Thomas More falls to 0-1.

Highlights
*Ashley Byrd scored the first three goals of the contest in the first eight minutes of action.
*The Eagles didn't let up and scored nine more goals before the first half ended taking a commanding 12-0 lead.
*In the second half, AU controlled the pace of play and time of possession, forcing 22 TMU turnovers on the day.
*Asbury would score five more goals in the second half and limited Thomas More to only three shots throughout the afternoon.

Key Stats
*Senior Ashley Byrd led the scoring charge for the Eagles with seven goals. Byrd totaled 13 shots with seven landing on-goal.
*Aubrey Curell snagged four goals, four draw controls, three ground balls, and two assists.
*Katherine Ivey led AU with a team-high four assists along with two goals scored.
*Senior Sarah Smith recorded two goals, as Jade Franchino tallied two assists and a team-high six ground balls.
*Mia Doron and Grace Tatro each scored a goal and dished out an assist each along with 10 combined draw controls on the day.  
*The Eagles outshot TMU 46-3 and landed 37 shots on-goal.
*AU won the draw control edge 14-4 and posted 12 free position shots. Additionally, Asbury collected 22 ground balls as a team.
