Eagles Fly Past Brescia for 20th Win

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team rolled past Brescia University 12-2 on Monday evening at Cecil Zweifel Field in River States Conference (RSC) play. With the victory, Asbury improves to 20-19 on the season and is now 11-11 in conference action.

The Eagles jumped ahead early and never looked back, thanks to a strong start.

In the bottom the second AU got things going as the Eagles scored on a single by Joe Williams, a sacrifice fly by Alejandro Jivanjee, a triple by Riley Baumbick, a single by Trevor Campbell, and a home run by Paul Haupt in the second inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Asbury would extend their lead in the bottom of the third with three more runs. Jivanjee's RBI double to left scored Garrett McIntire, while a sac fly from Baumbick, and an RBI single from Campbell scored two more runs to make it 9-1.

The Eagles finished things off in the bottom of the seventh as Joey Stenger ripped a hard line drive out to leftfield to score Thibault from third to end the game in seven innings.

Andrew Spalding was on the mound for Eagles and had a solid outing all evening. He allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven to keep the BU offense in check.

AU registered 17 hits in the game. Jivanjee, Zach Thibault, Joey Stenger, Williams, and Campbell all managed multiple hits for Eagles and each tallied two hits to help power the offense.
