Eagles Hit 14 Threes, Fly Past Alice Lloyd on Senior Night

WILMORE, Ky. –  The Asbury University men's basketball team won its 19th game of the season on Thursday night, as the Eagles rolled past Alice Lloyd 92-73.

Asbury shot over 50 percent from three-point range and improve to 19-9, 12-5 RSC on the year.

Before the contest, Deion Cochran, Clif Conley, Dave McCorvey, Trenton Thompson, Roshane O'Brian, Jack Schmitt, and Clarien Washington were all recognized.

Once the game was underway, AU wasted little time building its lead.

In the first six minutes, the Eagles had already made their lead into double digits at 19-9 following a Clif Conley three.

Asbury's largest lead of the first half was 12 at 33-21, but ALC cut the lead down to six late in the half.

The Eagles were able to regain the momentum as they went into the locker room with a 45-34 at the break as Deion Cochran drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer.

In the second half, the Eagles started the second half on an 11-2 run to pull ahead by 20 at 56-36 and started to put the game out of reach.

Alice Lloyd had no answer defensively for the Eagles, who eventually extended their lead all the way out to 27 at 73-46 later on in the half.

When it was all said and done, four seniors finished in double figures scoring. All seven seniors scored at least two points.

Asbury was led by Deion Cochran and Clarien Washington who each tabbed 16 points. Cochran added six rebounds. The senior from Shelbyville, Ky. shot 6-9 from the field and was 4-7 from behind the arc.

Washington led AU with a team-high four assists.

Trenton Thompson collected 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Clif Conley also reached double figures with 14 points. Conley was 4-5 from three-point territory.

Siah Holifield finished with eight points and five rebounds.

AU shot just under 50 percent from the field as a team and were strong once again at the foul line shooting 12-15 for 80 percent.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday for the regular season finale at Midway. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM.
