NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team won its third straight match on Saturday as they shutout Brescia University 2-0.
Saturday's match was played at West Jessamine High School due to heavy rain throughout the area during the day.
The Eagles improve to 7-9-1 on the season and are now 6-2-1 in River States Conference play.
With the heavy rain early on, it made for a slippery surface as both teams tried to adjust as quickly as possible.
Asbury held possession for nearly the entire contest, and out-shot the Bearcats by a wide margin at 27-2. The Eagle defense did a solid job all afternoon of keeping the ball on the opponent side of the field as much as possible.
AU fired off multiple good looks that just landed wide or high several times.
Jordan Holt scored off a header from a corner kick to put AU ahead 1-0 midway through the opening half.
Lisa Nesselroade provided the assist on the score.
Susie Terrazas would add the finishing touches on the match with a goal in the 89
th minute to secure the victory.
Terrazas finished with seven shots in total to lead the way for the Asbury offense.
Delaney Long notched five shots, while
Ashley Miller and Holt both finished with four shots apiece.
Carley Pyles collected the shutout in goal and posted a save.
The Eagles are back in play at home next Saturday against Ohio Christian for their final regular season match before the RSC Championship Tournament.
