WYOMING, Mich. – The Asbury University women's basketball team kicked off the 2019 season on the right note with a dominating 85-43 victory at Grace Christian on Friday evening.
After a solid opening half of play, which included a 13-0 run at one point, Asbury led 34-20 at the break.
AU began the second half on a 15-4 run and controlled the entire second half as they out-scored the Tigers 51-23 to blow the game wide open.
The Eagles shot over 50 percent from the field in the second half and recorded 27 points off turnovers for the game.

Jaclynn Ruble, who compiled a team-high 20 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor. The Lawrenceburg, Ky. native knocked down six three-point field goals and also dished out a team-high eight assists, while also collecting four rebounds and four steals.
Kelsey Johnson recorded 18 points and was perfect from the foul line on 4-4 free throw attempts.
Autumn Herriford scored 15 points and freshman
Zaria Napier totaled 13 points and eight rebounds in her Asbury debut.
Amie Conley and
Sarah Dennison had 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.
As a team, Asbury was very efficient from behind the arc as they finished the contest 15-36. AU also won the rebounding margin 51-41 and tallied 14 steals altogether.
Asbury was perfect from the foul line in the second half and finished the game at 90 percent shooting on 10-11 attempts.
Asbury will stay in Michigan for a Saturday matchup in Lansing versus Great Lakes Christian College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM.
